Adopt-a-Block
Dallas Dream Center believes that the key to impacting people is through relationships. One of the key programs for building these relationships is Adopt-A-Block. Every Saturday morning we go into some of the roughest, most crime laden areas in Dallas, and knock on every door possible. This enables us to meet a maximum amount of people, developing relationships, and influencing the community. We are able to meet needs such as food and clothing, maintenance, and many other household tasks. We also believe that by blessing the entire community it will open doors that were sealed shut to us for years; a simple yet effective way to do this is by picking up trash and cleaning the community. In order to effectively reach the sites, it takes volunteers to assist in the visitation and community work projects. Everyone is needed! Spanish speakers, people with urban experience, people who love children, teens, adults and the elderly- all are needed. Anyone can do this program- if you love to talk, if you love to listen, or you just simply want to do something, there is a place for you.
We began a community site right across the street from our headquarters, and since it’s inception it has taken off! Each week we see lives changed because of the faithfulness of the Adopt-A-Block teams! Recently, a lady named Joy from the Montclair community site was in need of a washing machine. She contacted Brent Wallace, our Adopt-a-Block director and we were able to give her a machine that had been donated to the Dream Center. Because we were able to fill this need, she has become a regular volunteer for AAB, and is now a leader in her community! We invite you to be a part of something that will change our city. For more information contact Brent at Dallas Dream Center.
